We have a daughter!!

Friday, Jan 26th, Keith was at work and saw Xiu Yi's picture on the website. He called WACAP and requested the profile. That evening I went to peek at the pictures and saw her as well. I pointed her out and said we should ask for her profile. Imagine my surprise when Keith said it was already done. He was so confident about this profile and we both were just taken in by her photograph. It almost felt like we already knew her. Thursday, Feb 1st, we received her profile and much to our delight there was NOTHING in the profile that made us hestitate. The additional pictures just captured our hearts even more. I emailed a friend (who adopted a little girl from China with the same special need) to get more information about 3rd degree cleft palate so we could refresh ourselves on the surgeries needed to repair Xiu Yi's cleft lip and palate. Friday, Feb 2nd, we met with Dr. S, our pediatrician. She was just as excited over the profile as we were. She didn't want to give the pictures back. She didn't feel there was any further questions to ask other than more updated stats (weight, height, etc) as her last exam was 5 months ago. Dr. S felt that Xiu Yi appeared to be very healthy. We all cooed over the chubby cheeks. LOL!! We immediately informed WACAP that we wanted to move forward to adopt. We were informed that we are the ONLY family interested. We immediately began to update our Parent's Resource packet. I contacted our s/w and she was just as thrilled to hear our story as well. She immediately went to the website to see her picture. She gave me local numbers to call to talk to families who've been through surgeries as she feels strongly about families understanding that part upfront (no romatincizing it). We did talk to the families, but we weren't detered. We understand surgeries in this house. On Monday morning, Feb 5th, WACAP had our paperwork in hand. Then the wait began to hear back if our paperwork was approved and Xiu Yi was our daughter. We worked to be patient (very hard for me, I'll admit), but we survived through today, Feb 7th, when we got the news we had waited so long to hear--we are parents with a daughter waiting in China.
